Mileage
Last updated: August 2026 · Pilot version
Mileage is a technology platform that lets a runner raise money two ways at once: a tax-deductible gift to a chosen charity, and an optional non-deductible contribution toward the runner's own training costs — both pledged per mile and verified by the runner's own mileage. Mileage is not a charity, a broker-dealer, or a tax or legal advisor. This is an early pilot; features and availability may change.
You sign in with a one-time email link or Google. Keep your access secure, use accurate information, and use one account per person. You must be 18 or older.
A backer pledges a dollar amount per mile with a maximum cap. After the event or training window, the amount owed is calculated from the runner's verified miles, never exceeding the cap. Each pledge is split into two rails, and the runner sets the split (0% up to 50% to training):
Charitable donations are handled by our donation partner, which issues receipts and disburses funds to the chosen charity. Mileage does not hold, control, or guarantee charitable funds, and does not decide how a charity uses them.
The training portion of a pledge is not a charitable donation and is not tax-deductible for the backer. For runners, training-rail funds you receive are taxable income, and you are solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes owed. Where required by law, Mileage or its payment partner may collect tax information and issue tax forms (such as a 1099).
Pledges are good-faith commitments. Mileage verifies mileage through the runner's connected data (e.g., Strava) and facilitates settlement after the event, but does not guarantee that every pledge will be collected.
Don't misrepresent your mileage, your identity, or a charity; don't use Mileage for fraud, laundering, or anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
The service is provided "as is," without warranties. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Mileage is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us (if any). You agree to indemnify Mileage for misuse of the platform.
We may update these terms or the service and will post changes here. You may stop using Mileage at any time; we may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, USA.
